As impossible as it seems, winter is already nearing. Since anything below 60 degrees is freezing to me, that means that my outfits, accessories and, most importantly, my skin care products have already started shifting to fit the cold weather. Here’s how I mix up my skin routine to keep my face hydrated and glowy as we get closer to the worst season ever.
Cleanser: I like to keep my cleanser consistent throughout all 4 seasons. Cleanser is on your face for such a short time that once I find one I love, I really don’t see any reason to change it.

Toner: Unfortunately, my acne also doesn’t change with the seasons- it’s always there. So I like to keep my glycolic acid/salicylic acid pads as the second step of my routine. I usually use these twice a day in summer and fall, but use them every other morning in winter so I don’t over dry out my skin with the acids.

Serum: When winter hits, I like to bring my Ordinary Hyaluronic acid serum up into my morning routine. I need the extra moisture throughout the day for when I have to walk to classes in the wind and snow.

For night time, I first put on a layer of my medicated acne cream (Aczone is an absolute savior if you’re in need of a good one) and slather on my Naturopathica facial oil. They discontinued the Neroli one I loved, but I’ve been using the Carrot Seed Oil instead and have to say it’s an all around winner.

Moisturizer: I received a small size of the Creme de La Mer moisturizer in one of my advertising classes, and have to say, it’s worth every overpriced penny. It feels so luscious on your face and smells so fresh and delicious. It also claims to have benefits of brightening, smoothing and fixing hyper-pigmentation. I definitely think I see differences, even if I’m just telling myself because of how good it feels to put on chapped winter skin. This goes on after all my serums and toners both morning and night.

SPF: Doesn’t matter the time, day, season or year. You can find me putting on my tinted Elta MD UV clear sunscreen, or virtually any Supergoop product as the last step of my morning routine.
