Perfumes At Every Price Range

written by ERICA DICK October 11th, 2020

One thing that’s always been non-negotiable for me is having a signature scent. Even though perfumes can often be expensive, having a high quality perfume is definitely something I always found myself splurging on. But having a great scent doesn’t have to be outrageously expensive. Since always having a good perfume has become one of my life’s missions, I’ve come up with pretty good variety of brands and fragrances that are amazing at every price range. Disclaimer: I don’t think lingo like “notes of musk” and “woody essence” means shit to anyone, so I’m gonna try to use my own, potentially weird, analogies to explain the scents.

From Lowest to Highest:

Fresh Sugar Lychee ($25)

This is one of the first perfumes I ever started wearing. I found a rollerball of it in mom’s purse when I was little and instantly loved its simple, sweet and flowery smell. It’s pretty reasonably priced for the quality of the scent, but is definitely concentrated with alcohol, so use sparingly.

Glossier ($60)

The glossier scent is amazing and perfect for anyone who hates super feminine perfumes. It smells so clean and fresh, the only way I know how to describe it is a sweeter version of freshly washed laundry.

Modern Muse ($75)

Okay here comes another interesting comparison. I don’t usually love perfumes that smell like this but when my friend gave me some of hers I instantly smelled like rich, chic grandma. It’s definitely strong, but smells out of this world and makes you feel like you’re about to meet your posh brunch squad at the Ritz Carlton.

Jo Malone

Jo Malone is a household favorite and has a pretty vast price range within its own brand. My current signature scent that I’ve worn for a few years now is Jasmine Sambac & Marigold Cologne Intense ($135.00) which smells like a literal garden of flowers. However, I also love the Mimoa and Cardomon ($72.00) which they offer in a smaller, and therefore cheaper, bottle. And let me tell you, it smells just as flowery and unreal.

Le Labo (The Noir 29, Santal 33)

Now onto the best and, unfortunately, most expensive scents. They’re super concentrated, though, so you only need one spritz to smell amazing all day making the bottles last forever. My family has a few Le Labo candles which is how I first smelled their incredible and unique scents. They’re pretty gender neutral and I don’t think I’ve ever smelled one of theirs I don’t love. When Rebecca first wrote about The Noir 29 ($192), I knew I had to try it. I honestly can’t think of any analogy for it other than heavenly. The great thing about Le Labo is you can buy sample scents for only $4 with free shipping on their website, so you can try a few before splurging on a big one. The second scent I love from them is Santal 33 ($192). I first smelled it on one of my guy friends, to put in perspective how gender neutral they are, and again, could’ve died at how amazing it smelled. Although those two are my faves, you can’t go wrong with any of their fragrances.
