Last year I decided that my skincare routine was too excessive. It was time for a cabinet cleanse. I brought this up to my grandma who had just come from the dermatologist. She told me about some magical oil her dermatologist tried to sell her for over $100. As they continued to talk, the dermatologist divulged that my grandma could actually buy pretty much the same exact product from Amazon for less than $20 (but told her not to tell anyone!). I started researching the product, Rosehip Oil, and after reading about the insane amount of benefits it offers, I decided to purchase a bottle for myself. The Ordinary also sells a Rosehip Oil for an even cheaper price ($9.80.)
As mentioned in my skincare routine post, I can’t use the same product for more than a year; because my skin adapts and they stop working. Rosehip Oil has been the only product that this doesn’t apply to. So no matter your skin type, I’m here to convince you that you need Rosehip Oil in your face routine.
First let’s start with the question: What is Rosehip Oil? It is a pressed-seed oil extracted from the wild rose bush in the southern Andes. It’s pretty much been around forever. It is a gentle, non-clogging oil that can be used on even the most sensitive skin. It contains Vitamin A, B, C, and E. How it contains that many vitamins, I don’t know. But once you start using it, you’ll see why I called it magical.
Now, onto the benefits. Rosehip Oil brightens the skin, fights signs of early aging, improves elasticity and collagen production, and evens out your skin tone. It will help with scarring, dark spots, and is super hydrating on top of all that. It is also an anti-inflammatory which means it will help get rid of acne. Fun fact, both Miranda Kerr and Kate Middleton attribute their glowing skin to Rosehip Oil.
Well, how do you use it? You can use it twice a day and I recommend using it after your moisturizer. It’s a great product to use with your Gua Sha! After rubbing it in, pat your face to make sure it really penetrates through the skin. One thing to note, since Rosehip Oil is very high in Vitamin A, be careful when using retinol in your skincare routine.
With all of these benefits in one bottle, I am still surprised more people don’t know about and use Rosehip Oil. If you want to hear more about my specific experience using the product, comment below or send us an email!
