As a health and wellness freak, people are constantly asking me questions about what foods are “good” and “bad” and what’s “okay” to eat. As happy as it makes me to share my favorite recipes and health tips, it’s also important to remember that food is just FOOD! There is no good and bad, no “cheat” meal or day or month. Food is about nourishing yourself. It’s a tool to feel great in your own skin.

The first time I was really able to understand this was when I found the healthy meal delivery service, Sakara Life. They prepare fresh, organic, whole meals that they deliver nationwide. I fell in love with their brand because the entire company revolves around one theme: “food as medicine.” Their whole platform promotes the philosophy that adding unprocessed fruits and veggies into your diet can clear up your skin, improve focus, decrease bloat, increase energy, and yes, as a side effect, can help you lose weight.
When I finally could not face cleaning another dish in quarantine, I signed up for their signature meal plan program which is the least intensive of all their programs — others include Brides and Detox Level II. While they offer all three meals, I chose to try only breakfast and lunch for three days. Although the program is on the pricier side (the two meals for three days were $160 before my discount code) every penny was worth it.

I got a text at 6 am saying that my meals had been delivered. I opened the box later that morning to see my six meals beautifully packaged along with some of their clean boutique items: detox and digestive teas, probiotics, and a chocolate energy bar. I got salads, muffins, stir fry, and grain bowls, all of which were the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. I was so satisfied after every meal I felt no need to snack (which is huge for me as a snack addict). The ingredients were so fresh and delicious I couldn’t believe they hadn’t been prepared minutes before in my own kitchen.

Their boutique products were amazing too. The teas tasted great and really helped with my chronic bloating. I loved the bar, although I’ve heard their other flavors aren’t as good. I even since purchased their cookbook and have made the most amazing mushroom pasta, soba noodle salad, banana bread, and more.

Overall, if you’re considering a reset or just an easy, convenient way to eat healthier I could not recommend Sakara Life more. They stray away from toxic diet culture and do an incredible job of providing their clients with a holistic way to lead healthier, more mindful lives.
Bonus: They also have an amazing health and wellness podcast where they feature board-certified doctors, wellness experts, and healers.
